Torrey Pines Sunrise by Mary Marcdante

Sunrise from Torrey Pines Beach today. The light behind the clouds reminds me that no matter how hidden or unformed a dream may be, it will rise. We just have to be present to notice when it happens and let it in. What dream is waiting for you?

“If there is one lesson I have to say I’ve learned during my time on this planet it is this: the number one thing all people crave is to be seen and to be heard. It’s just that simple. The gift of paying attention is a fundamental key to transforming our relationships. You will be suprised at how miraculous your relationships become when you just start paying attention.” ~Oprah Winfrey, Day 13, Miraculous Relationships 21-Day Meditation Challenge

How it’s my job to live up to any spiritual or moral values that I may want the world to live up to. And on top of that, what really matters is one’s presence—not one’s words or even one’s deeds. Rather, who we are in each moment is what has the traction to make a difference.”   ~Elizabeth Lesser

I’m wholly devoted to while we’re here

“Do not go where the path may lead,
go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

“You’re not here anymore. You’ve got to leave
in order to return to the present.”

Paulo Coehlo, Aleph (p. 9)

Sometimes, to experience presence we have to leave home and journey to new places and spaces in our body, heart, mind, spirit and soul. Physical travel allows all these parts of us to venture out and then return home integrated and filled with gratitude and appreciation, which increases presence wherever you are.

The cliches “Familiarity breeds contempt,” “You’re never a hero in your own town,” and “Don’t get too comfortable,” are cliches for a reason – all of these phrases remind us of how easy it is to become numb to the gifts right in front of our eyes. As Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz said when she returned to Kansas, “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.” But she had to leave home to reawaken that feeling.

What new places call to you? Where might you visit that will bring you closer to your Self?

There’s no place like Presence, there no place like Presence, there’s no place like Presence.
